What is a Media Centre?

A media centre is a PC that takes the place of your digital set top box, DVD player, DVD recorder, CD player, hard disk recorder, surround sound processor, and even your Internet browser! These are some of the functions performed by a Knoppmyth media centre. Our media centres also:

Why should I have one?
Australian Dragon media centres are like a “TiVO” on steroids! Optimised for KnoppMyth for use as a HDTV system, they have more than enough computing power for everything MythTV offers today and in the foreseeable future. On top of all that, they retain their identity as a general-purpose computer.
You should have one if:
- You want a great HDTV hardware platform for MythTV. Our machines are optimised for broadcast HDTV using the European DVB standard we use here in Australia.
- You want the freedom to do what you want. Better Access media centres do not lock down what you can do with them.
- You want an easily installed, pre-optimised KnoppMyth system.
- You want free software.
As we no longer operate as a company, we will not be able to sell one, but you can still make one yourself, or have one made for you.
